Somerville CCE Products

The Program has different products to let you find the right balance of cost and renewable electricity. Renewable electricity will be certified by purchasing and retiring Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), the accepted legal instrument used to track renewable energy generation, and to substantiate claims of renewable energy use. Learn more about RECs.

Why do we have more than 100% RECs?

Tax Deduction The value of the extra 100% MA Class I RECs qualifies as a deduction on federal income taxes. Those enrolled in this option will receive a tax contribution letter each January from Green Energy Consumers Alliance, the non-profit that procures the extra renewable electricity.

For new Industrial (C&I) customers, and for those customers who have previously opted out of the Program, the program’s supplier may offer a market rate.

Products described as green contain renewable energy certificates (MA Class I RECs) above that required by the Commonwealth and come only from solar, wind, anaerobic digestion and low-impact hydro located within New England. Local refers to renewable energy resources located in New England.

Please note: Prices for all products in the Somerville Community Choice Electricity program include a $0.001/kWh consultant fee. Program prices could increase as a result of a change in law that results in a direct, material increase in costs during the term of the electricity supply agreement, but this did not happen during the last contract. Program prices apply only to the electricity supply portion of your Eversource electric bill. Delivery charges on your Eversource electric bill are not affected by the Somerville Community Choice Electricity program.
